What is a Dermal Filler?

The deepening of facial lines and folds can be caused by a variety of factors, including overall volume loss - which can be restored.

Dermal fillers and volume-building injections are widely used in aesthetic medicine, they add volume to smooth these lines and folds.

There are several different types of dermal fillers ,the most common ones are composed of hyaluronic acid, a carbohydrate (sugar derivative) occurring naturally throughout the human body. Injected under the skin, hyaluronic acid binds to water, capable of holding more than a thousand times its weight, which makes it ideal to hydrate the skin and to maintain tissue volume. It is a safe non-surgical treatment, often used in combination with neuromodulators.

Dermal Fillers differ in chemical makeup, longevity and have varying degrees of softness. Softer fillers are used in the lips, for example, while sturdier fillers might be desired to enhance cheekbones. Your aesthetic injector will determine with you the best type and volume of filler needed for your particular areas of concern.

When will I see the results for Dermal Filler?

You will see results instantly! Once injected, fillers provides immediate volume with little-to-no down time. It show effects for 6-18 months, depending on the product used, area treated and your body's unique characteristics.

What is the cost?

The price depends on the amount of product needed and the areas of the face being treated. Our Cosmetic Injection Specialist will determine the right amount of product required for you to achieve a refreshed look and provide you with a cost estimate during the consultation.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

Please ensure you are not wearing any make-up. A lavatory is available should you need to remove it once at the clinic.
If taking blood thinner medications, or regular anti-inflammatories (e.g. ibuprofen or naproxen), please talk to your primary healthcare provider and ask whether you are able to stop taking these medications 3 days before your treatment to help avoid excessive bleeding or bruising. This will be reviewed with your practitioner during the consultation if you are unsure.
Avoid extreme heat and strenuous exercise on the day of your treatment.
Schedule the treatment at least two-three weeks prior to an important event to allow time for bruising or redness to resolve.
Eat or drink prior to treatment to limit facial movements post-treatment.
